Get Certified!  Take a Scuba Lesson with the PADI Open Water Diver Course

Get your PADI scuba certification. If you’ve always wanted to learn how to scuba dive, discover new adventures or simply see the wondrous world beneath the waves, this is where it starts.

The PADI Open Water Diver course is the world’s most popular scuba course, and has introduced millions of people to the adventurous diving lifestyle.

What You Learn

The PADI Open Water Diver course consists of three main phases:

  1. Knowledge Development (online, home study or in a classroom ) to understand basic principles of scuba diving
  2. Confined Water Dives to learn basic scuba skills
  3. Open Water Dives - to review your skills and explore!

If you’ve tried diving through a Discover Scuba Diving experience or resort course, the skills you learned may be credited towards a portion of the full PADI Open Water Diver course certification.

Prerequisites

To enroll in the PADI Open Diver course or Junior Open Water Diver course, you must

  • Be 10 years or older (PADI eLearning requires a minimum age of 13 years due to international internet laws.
  • Be physically fit and not suffer from any known medical problems. (We have put the PADI medical questionnaire on the net so you can pre check the list.

The Fun Part

The fun part about this course is . . . well, just about all of it because learning to dive is incredible. You breathe underwater for the first time (something you’ll never forget) and learn what you need to know to become a certified diver. During the course, you’ll make five pool dives and four dives at local dive sites under the supervision of your PADI Instructor.

The Scuba Gear You Use

In the PADI Open Water Diver course, you learn to use basic scuba gear including a dive computer, and standard accessories. The equipment you wear varies somewhat, depending upon whether you’re diving in tropical, temperate or cold water

The Learning Materials You Need

PADI offers a variety of home-study materials for the Open Water Diver course. While eLearning is the most convenient option, you may also chose a book and DVD package or a multimedia DVD-ROM.

PADI’s Open Water Diver materials cover what you need to know about basic scuba diving skills, terminology and safety procedures. For each concept you’ll read a description and watch a video demonstration. Then you’ll jump in the pool (or pool-like environment) to practice these skills with your instructor. Later, as a certified diver, use the course materials as a reference guide for future diving adventures and to review what you learned.

padi open water course structure

Ok so you might be a little nervous about your forthcoming Open Water diving course so we have put some information here for you about how we generally schedule the course.

We gather that if you are enlightened about how the course is delivered you hopefully wont be nervous. Generally we teach people this course over three days and not four. The main reason for this is customers time - you are on holiday and most people accomplish the classroom and swimming pool work in one day.

On the other hand if your instructor feels that your learning experience could be hampered by doing the course in three days then we will recommend to you to do an extra day. The main important thing is that we monitor your progress through the course and adpat as necessary to help you achieve the best. So here is what a three day course looks like:-

DAY 1 – Classroom and Confined water dives

Your Day Will Unfold As Follows:

• Pick up by your instructor at 8.30 am to go to our classroom
• You start by watching a DVD that covers the five chapters in your Open Water manual.
• After every chapter of the DVD you fill in a knowledge review and then complete a multiple choice quiz to make sure you fully understand the chapter you have just watched!
• After you have completed the five chapters your instructor will arrange lunch for you.
• After lunch we go to the pool to put into practice what you have learnt.
• Your instructor will demonstrate different skills to you in the swimming pool and then ask you to copy. Each skill is practiced in turn until you have mastered the skill. The skills progress from basic to more involved. After completing the skills it is time for some fun in the pool practicing your new skills.
• Your instructor will return you to your accommodation at approximately 5:00 PM in the afternoon.

DAY 2 – Open Water Dives 1 & 2

Transportation to all the dive sites will be aboard a brand new VIP Speedboat. There will be a maximum of 15 aboard the boat travelling with Infinity Diving, as opposed to the large ferries that can shuttle hundreds of divers at a time and are common in Thailand and the area. The speedboat allows us access to a greater variety of dive sites and a much shorter travel time to and from Koh Samui (please sees our attachment regarding the Boat). These facts contribute to the premium price of the trip with us, versus some of the competition, but let us assure you it is well worth the expense. You experience a complete day of fun and learning, exclusively with us and tailored to your needs!

Your Day Will Unfold As Follows:

• Pickup at your accommodation by your instructor at 7:00 - 07.30am
• A short trip to the marina where a continental breakfast will be served (includes coffee, tea, a variety of juices, fruit and toast)
• You will accompany the instructor on the boat and set up your equipment ready for the days adventure.
• We then depart the marina at 08.00 and head for our first dive site.
• Following the dive lunch will be served on either the boat or beach depending on conditions. Lunch is served hot and includes soft drinks, coffee, tea and fruit
• Following our surface interval and lunch we descend on our next site and see what we can find!
• After the dive our staff will assist you back onto the boat and help you put all the equipment away
• Then it’s back to Koh Samui on the speedboat and rave about the incredible diving!
• Your instructor will return you to your accommodation at approximately 3:30 – 4:00 PM in the afternoon.

DAY 3 – Open Water Dives 3 & 4

Your Day Will Unfold As Follows:

• Pickup at your accommodation by your instructor at 7:20 am
• A short trip to the marina where a continental breakfast will be served (includes coffee, tea, a variety of juices, fruit and toast)
• In the meantime your instructor will prepare all the equipment and load the boat… you RELAX!
• We then depart the marina to the first dive site of the day for open water dive 3!
• Following the dive lunch will be served on either the boat or beach depending on conditions. Lunch is served hot and includes soft drinks, coffee, tea and fruit
• Following our surface interval and lunch we descend on our next site for open water dive 4.
• After the dive our staff will assist you back onto the boat and help you put all the equipment away
• Then it’s back to Koh Samui on the speedboat while we celebrate certification and fill in your logbooks and rave about the incredible diving!
• Your instructor will return you to your accommodation at approximately 3:30 – 4:00 PM in the afternoon.
